Each of these sturdy all-purpose trowels is hand built. The natural finished Shagbark Hickory handle is 14″ long (overall tool length is 22″). The combination of strength, toughness, and hardness found in Hickory is found in no other commercial wood and is why it is prized as a great material for tool handles. Each tool by forged by hand and the wood handle is finished with the bark on. The wood handle is slotted and the tool is inset into the slot then riveted all the way through with brass rivets. The wide blade holds a lot of soil and the pointed shape allow you to use it in the field. It is great for working in raised beds too! The subtle patina and extra length give this tool a great balance and modern flair.
